Who?
Marcus Johan, @marcusjohan

Occupation?
Student at The University of Oslo

Location?
Oslo, Frogner

What is key for you to stay positive with everything that is happening in the world?
Well by doing your part in this situation and encouraging other to do the same, I belive it is easier to stay positive. And to remember that this is something we can ease and stabilize together. I always think that the key to staying positive is knowing what we can do as to help the situation, even if that means staying inside and reading the news.

What are your daily routines?
Even if I am mostly staying in the apartment these days I always try to have a somewhat normal routine with getting ready. I don’t really wear sweatpants or loungewear at home and if the day consist of doing absolutely nothing I still prefer doing it in jeans and a white shirt. I always try to go outside for a walk in the park nearby, luckily it is the Vigeland Park which is great these days. Other then that I try to keep on top of my studies, cook food and watch or read something that is entertaining or interesting.

Where do find your inspiration?
My sources of inspiration is almost always grounded in something or someone interesting or historical. I often refer to Fran Lebowitz and Lee Radziwill when it comes to fashion and style. The periode in french culture which Hedi Slimane at Celine have been heavily referencing to, the 70s french bourgeois, has come to be a subject of interest. The same goes for my home and how I buy furniture. It is mostly vintage Danish and Norwegian design from that golden era where it was a certain focus on materials and craftsmanship. My home is largely based on how people like Finn Juhl and the Norwegian architect Sverre Fehn would create a space or even just position a sofa.

What is style for you?
Your style, when it comes to both fashion and living, is often based on your references, what you have seen, read, bought and acquired through time. Personally I am not really a big believer in the importance of having a specific style or being aware of style as I mostly just belive it to be a synonym for taste. In daily life I wear very simple pieces, a turtleneck and jeans with some sneakers or boots, and as with most people it is not a conscious question of how would I like to present myself today, I just wear what I like.

What key items do you have in your all year round wardrobe?
I always have crisp shirts, my Monaco pants from Envelope1976 and a blazer. Other than the heavy wool coats and knitwear, the pieces in my wardrobe are mostly worn all year round as I always try to have things that are simple, good quality and with natural fibers.

Envelope1976 believes in sustainability and classic pieces. Is there an item that you think never will go out of fashion?
Mostly likely the blazer, the classic shirt or a nicely fitted turtleneck sweater.

Reuse of clothes is important to us, do you have any good advice for how to reuse clothes?
Before giving something away or donating it I try to check with friends or sell it on an app. This is not really in the hopes of making money, but to insure that it will live on. As for the clothing that I have and wear I just try to buy things that are easily reusable, wash nicely and wear well with time - look in your closet before you go shopping.

What do you do to have a greener lifestyle?
First and foremost I buy things that I know that will have a longer span than just that one day or night. When it comes to vintage and secondhand, try to remember that even tough it is not new, you are not doing your part by buying something that you will never wear or use. Other than that I would just say take the bus, buy less plastic and throw away less food.

Stronger together - what can we all do now?
Read the news, stay informed, do what you can and have a glass (or a bottle) of wine.
