Q&A: Alphons Amuri
What do you do? I am mainly a model & influencer, but I also enjoy being creative, so I design a lot for myself as well. Where do you live? I live in the western part of Oslo. I enjoy living a bit outside the city center in order to get that home-sweet-home feeling.
I always wake up to do my skincare, and from there it goes wild. I might end up at events all day, or shooting. I live in structured chaos. Where do you find your inspiration? Most of my inspiration comes from my early memories and my culture. But also details I see in my daily life.
Tell us about your journey? My journey has been a long one. I am born in Africa, in a quiet hustler's family. My mom was a tailor, and pretty good at making African garments in her prime, so that is where my interest in fashion is rooted. I moved to Norway in 2007 and kind of paused my fashion self. I played a lot of football, but one thing that stayed consistent was my ability to dress to fit in, and I did well in fitting in considering not having the best economic privileges. This is my root for creativity I would say. In 2015 a friend of mine started the Instagram account that I now use. He saw something that even I couldn’t as he predicted that Instagram would be good for me. Moving to Oslo to study in 2018 was a turning point in my life as I was scouted to become a model in September of that year. Not that much happened the following year, except for reconnecting with my love for fashion, creativity, and now the competence in front of a camera. In late 2020 I changed my management and my new agents introduced influencing then styling to me. From here I have loved every second of my work, and can’t wait to see what's in store for me! What are your daily routines?Instagram @alphonsamuri
How would you describe your style?
Experimental I would say. You will understand why if you see me from day to day.
What are your 10 key pieces in your wardrobe? This is a really hard question as my style changes from day to day, I honestly can’t answer. Who is your fashion role model? I don’t have one. I find pleasure in everything but have unfortunately not found a specific person. Is there any item you think never will go out of fashion? Unfortunately skinny jeans. Reuse of clothes is important to us, do you have any good advice on how to reuse clothes? I never throw away. I always store my clothing in my storage because fashion works as the circle of life. Future is past, and past is future.
Silk, I love the fact that it protects the skin. But it is expensive. What key items do you have in your all year-round wardrobe?I think the only thing that stay consistent is all my flared pants. Stronger together- what can we all do now?I am not a guru of nature and don’t know the answer to this question. But thinking about our own habits is a good start. A strong team is a team where everyone knows their position so I would also say to think about what changes one can do as an individual, because we have different weaknesses and strengths.
